The title of this article may not appeal to you. But rest assured it's a useful read if you have an exciting building project (or even a fun event) to manage. Portable restrooms are an important feature of any temporary workplace. Whether you opt for semi-permanent toilet blocks or opt for classic plastic chemicals, it goes without saying that HR may have something to say if you can't provide your employees with somewhere to... "Wipe their noses." Chemiloo provides an indispensable service for anyone working on your site.
Renting portable toilets is a simple process, but once your toilet is rented and gets to you, it's great to know what to do when it arrives to install it properly. This week, the Unit Hire team walks you through what you need to know to successfully install portable toilets on your job site without any hiccups. Why do you Need Portable Toilet Units? Portable toilets are a must for all job sites, as well as being incredibly useful for outdoor events. Good portable toilet units ensure that your workers always have somewhere to go when nature calls – satisfying your employees from the bottom up. Of course, free-standing chemical toilets won't truly provide five-star service - that's the job of larger portable units. However, they are a necessary addition to larger sites or events likely to attract large numbers of visitors, such as festivals. Installation Process Installing larger temporary toilet units and smaller chemical units is relatively easy. Chemical toilets, in particular, couldn't be more straightforward. Simply load it onto a truck and move it to the best location for your workers or guests. Its big advantage is that it is completely independent, so you don't have to worry about where the waste will go yet. Due to their size and weight, larger units require more specialized equipment to ensure ease of transport and placement. Tip: If you have plugged-in units, you will want to make sure your units are placed near plumbing and power outlets. Not only will this give you full plumbing, but it also gives you access to hot water! If you don't have access to water pipes for your waste pipes, you'll need to purchase or rent a septic tank. These tanks can be placed beneath or next to your unit and connected directly to the waste pipe to collect everything that is disposed of. Cleaning Portable Toilets If you have a portable toilet unit that is plugged in to electricity, cleaning the toilets will not be a problem at all. Because it's connected to the main plumbing and sewer system, it's as easy to clean as a toilet at home. Like any toilet, all it needs is a bit of bleach and a little elbow grease to keep it clean. Self-contained chemical toilets are not so simple. First, because these toilets simply store waste instead of disposing of it, you need to rent a vacuum truck whenever you need to clean the toilet. The same goes for units equipped with septic tanks. You will then need to make sure you have the chemicals needed to refill the toilet and flush out any bacteria with each flush. Note: Some of these toilet chemicals contain toxic and environmentally harmful chemicals like formaldehyde. For comfort and compliance with health and safety regulations, you will need to make sure your toilet has an odor elimination system. Furthermore, there should also be plenty of toilet paper that is frequently replaced, as well as consumables such as soap. Keeping your portable toilets in good condition is a tough job. Installing and maintaining portable toilets can be overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be. Call the friendly Unit or Hire team today for all your portable toilet needs.
